Indiana Jones Storms Into EMA’s Video Hall of Fame

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA (June 25, 2008) … Nineteen exceptional DVD titles were honored with Home Entertainment Awards last evening. 300, the Spartan war epic, was the sole multiple winner, collecting awards in the “High-Definition” and “Rental Title of the Year” categories. In addition, Raiders of the Lost Ark was inducted into the Entertainment Merchants Association’s (EMA) Video Hall of Fame. The awards were presented by the Entertainment Merchants Association (EMA) at a ceremony in Las Vegas, Nevada, held as part of EMA’s Home Media Expo 2008. The Expo is currently taking place at the Palms Casino Resort.

Raiders of the Lost Ark stands next to Casablanca, The Godfather, Grease, and Scarface in the Video Hall of Fame, which recognizes movies that have continued to perform well in both video sales and rental over an extended period of time. Home entertainment retailers and distributors that are members of EMA select inductees to the Video Hall of Fame. Raiders of the Lost Ark is available on DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment.

Also at the Home Entertainment Awards show, Ed Begley Jr. was honored the “Humanitarian of the Year,” Ben Stein received the “Freedom of Expression” award, Cam Gigandet was named “Rising Male Star,” Henry Jaglom was given the “Independent Career Achievement,” and Happy Days’ Don Most and Anson Williams were hailed as “Legendary Television Duo.” Other award winners include: Jon Chu, Josie Davis, Pauly Shore, and Charlene Tilton. The show was hosted by popular comedian and actor Jamie Kennedy.

EMA’s Home Media Expo, sponsored by EMA and produced by Home Entertainment Events, is being held June 24-26, 2008 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada. The event is open to trade and press only.
