LAS VEGAS (May 2, 2008)
– TREVI Italian Restaurant, Bertolini’s Authentic Trattoria and Morton’s The
Steakhouse employees and management have formed a partnership to help The Shade
Tree, a shelter for homeless and abused women and children, in Las Vegas. The three restaurants have named their
mission “MAGIC”: M, making a memory; A,
always being aware; G, giving back to the community; I, because I care, and C
for collaborating together to make an impact.
“TREVI, Bertolini’s and Morton’s employees are committed to helping out
in the community, and The Shade Tree is a valuable organization to women and
children,” said Nick Catanella, general manager and managing partner for TREVI
Italian Restaurant. “The employees are
collecting supplies for The Shade Tree and joining for its ‘Walk for the
Homeless’ on May 10. This is a great way
to help the women and children in our community and to encourage team spirit
among our employees at the same time.”
Lalana Daniels, sales & marketing manager for TREVI, spearheaded
“MAGIC” and has registered the restaurants for the “Walk for the Homeless” at 9
a.m., May 10. The walk, which includes
pets, is at Children’s Memorial Park on Gowan and Torrey Pines roads in Las Vegas. Prizes will be awarded for the most money
donated, the youngest and oldest walkers and the biggest walk team. For individuals walking with their dogs,
canine contests and pooch prizes will be available. Individuals who can’t be there to walk will
be able to donate online or watch the fun.
TREVI, Bertolini’s and Morton’s employees have placed donation boxes at
the restaurants for a variety of necessities for The Shade Tree, including baby
items and cleaning and office supplies.
The donation boxes will be available throughout May.
The Shade Tree mission is to provide safe shelter to homeless and
abused women and children in crisis, offer life-changing services promoting
stability, dignity and self-reliance. The
Shade Tree serves homeless and abused women and children, female veterans,
homeless youth and the physically disabled as well as victims of domestic
violence, elder abuse and street violence. Through programs offered by The
Shade Tree, women can rebuild their lives, find employment, secure permanent
housing and become productive members of the community. The Shade Tree’s
innovative program, Noah’s Animal House, allows women to escape abusive
situations without leaving behind their pet. In addition to providing shelter,
Noah’s Animal House provides vaccinations and optional spaying/neutering at no
cost to the pet owner. The Shade Tree is a local 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization and donations are tax deductible.
“We are very grateful to the TREVI,
Bertolini’s and Morton’s employees and management for donating their time,
money and resources for the benefit of the women and children at The Shade
Tree,” said executive director Marlene Richter. “Their enthusiasm is wonderful. We welcome
individuals and companies who come forward and contribute what they can.”
According to Brandon Bueltel, general manager of Bertolini’s Authentic
Trattoria, the Bertolini’s, TREVI and Morton’s employees are really excited
about being a part of The Shade Tree and helping in a cause so close to everyone’s
hearts. “If we can help people in need
in our community and make their lives better, then it will be a worthwhile
effort on all of our parts.”
