Honolulu, HI – May 8, 2008 – A major construction milestone was completed at the WaikÈkÈ Nei Theatre when the intricate and technologically advanced theatre seating sections were installed to seat 750 guests. WaikÈkÈ Nei, scheduled to open in July 2008, will be one of the most innovative stage shows in Oah‘u history and its entertainment complex will be the first of its kind in the state of Hawai‘i.
The WaikÈkÈ Nei Theatre seating structures are a major technological feature of the cutting-edge entertainment venue and will be a core component of the venue’s amazing physical transformation capabilities. The seating is built so that the lower sections retract and are hidden beneath the top sections to create an open space. This impressive feat successfully converts the theatre into WaikÈkÈ’s own upscale nightclub after nightly showings of the WaikÈkÈ Nei theatrical production.
“The creative challenge was creating a space for multiple use of the same square footage and be able to utilize the same technology for separate venues,” said Roger Parent of Realisations.net. “Our advantage is that we are using the equipment and technology from the production for the nightclub, which is something no other nightclub could afford.”
14-foot portable bars are stowed underneath the seating structures and are easily accessible when the seats convert to create an open space for the 4,500 square foot nightclub dance floor and VIP areas. Additionally, the nightclub will feature a DJ booth and a 116-foot projection screen showing contemporary music videos and live images from around the club. The 60-foot high ceilings and stellar catwalks used in the WaikÈkÈ Nei production will be utilized in the nightclub for an array of performances and aerial acts such as trapeze, wall-walkers and bungee jumpers for an exciting nightlife experience that has never before been accomplished in Hawai‘i.
“Completion of the installation of the WaikÈkÈ Nei theatre seats is one of the most important milestones of construction on this project as these pieces are essential to the venue’s astounding ability to transform itself,” said Todd Dougall, partner of Royal Hawaiian Showroom, LLC. “We’re extremely excited to introduce the multi-use capabilities of this entertainment complex to WaikÈkÈ and bring the nightlife experience to a whole new level here.”
Upon completion in July 2008, the evolutionary WaikÈkÈ Nei venue will exist as an allin- one entertainment complex including a 750-seat theatre, after-hours nightclub and Las Vegas-style ultra lounge featuring VIP services, specialty cocktails and interactive tables.
