LAS VEGAS (June 9, 2009) – Republican
gubernatorial candidate, former state senator Joe Heck (District 5, 2004-2008),
announced Grant Hewitt will serve as campaign manager for his 2010 gubernatorial
campaign team.
No stranger to Nevada, Hewitt served as Deputy Campaign
Manager for Governor Jim Gibbons’ 2006 campaign before shifting into the role of
Co-Executive Director of the Nevada Republican Party. Following the 2006
election, Hewitt served as Director of Government Affairs and Community
Relations for Black Gaming in Mesquite.
Hewitt grew up in Dallas, Texas
and Kalispell, Montana. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from Texas
Christian University and first cut his political teeth on an assortment of Texas
races, including that of Governor Rick Perry, before joining the Bush-Cheney
campaign in 2004.
Most recently Hewitt served as Campaign Manager for
Edward Tinsley’s 2008 congressional campaign in New Mexico.
“Grant
brings to the table an extensive blend of political experience, coupled with a
firm understanding of the unique issues and challenges currently facing
Nevadans,” said Heck. “His vision and expertise will enable us to build a
successful organization and propel the campaign forward.”
“Dr. Heck has
the leadership experience to bring about true change in Nevada,” said Hewitt.
“From his roots serving as a volunteer firefighter and EMT, to his continued
dedication as a member of the United States Army Reserve - his more than 25
years of public service truly speak to his integrity and his commitment to
helping others. I am honored to be able to bring my skills and experience to a
campaign I so firmly believe in.”
