WASHINGTON, D.C. – House Republican Leader John Boehner
(R-OH) issued the following statement on the new health care “report”
issued this morning by Christina Romer, Chair of the Council of
Economic Advisers:
“Instead of putting out more phony reports, the White House should acknowledge what independent experts have found: The Democrats’ health care bill will increase costs. The American people don’t want a government takeover of health care, yet Democrats refuse to listen to concerns about how their bill would increase costs, raise taxes, add to our skyrocketing debt, and put bureaucrats in charge of decisions that should be made by patients and doctors. That’s why we need to start over on a common-sense plan that lowers costs and expands access at a price tag our nation can afford.”
NOTE: House Republicans offered a common-sense health care plan that would lower premiums by up to 10 percent and reduce the deficit by $68 billion over 10 years without imposing tax increases on families and small businesses.
