Republican candidate for the United States Senate, Danny Tarkanian is holding an open town hall meeting tonight to discuss the current health bill being promoted by President Obama and supported by most Democrats. The event is open to the public, but fire codes will limit the room to 310 people. Nevadans are encouraged to attend and exercise their First Amendment rights.
Details of this event:
Date: Thursday, August 20, 2009
Time: 5:00pm - 7:00pm
Location: Starbright Theater
Street: 2215 Thomas Ryan Boulevard
City/Town: Las Vegas, NV
Meanwhile, Congresswoman Shelley Berkley (D-NV) held a town hall meeting last night in the North Las Vegas Library in a room set to fit barely 100 people. Dozens of people were kept outside the tiny room and held peaceful, educated and forceful protests against the Democrats plan to give the federal
government authority over Americans individual healthcare decisions. Access was very limited at the Berkley meeting and it was clear that most of those allowed entrance were carefully screened by the local Democrat Party. One group allowed preferential seating at the front of the room was a pro-abortion group that apparently finds common ground in the Democrats health plan. In a supposed open meeting, Berkley was extremely careful to make sure that she received a warm welcome and few tough questions.
The Clark County Republican Party supports honest, open meetings where residents of Nevada are welcome to freely express their opinions under the protection of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
