(Las Vegas) – On Monday, September 7th, Senator Steven Horsford will host a Green Day of Service Block Party in conjunction with President Barack Obama’s call for a National Day of Service and his United We Serve initiative. The event will be held at the Sherman Garden Annex Park, which is located on Weaver Drive just south of Doolittle in historic West Las Vegas.
The block party will begin at 8am with a neighborhood clean-up and desert landscaping project. This will be followed by a barbeque in the park for the participants. Attendees are encouraged to bring old phone books or any other recyclables to the park for collection. Energy efficient light bulbs will also be distributed.
“In these difficult times, all Nevadans need to work together to build a better future for our children. This is an opportunity for neighbors and community members to join together in service of the community,” said Senate Majority Leader Steven Horsford. “Investing in a green economy is an investment in the future of Nevada. My family and I are looking forward to rolling up our sleeves to build a greener Nevada.”
