Colbie Caillat, 22-year-old singer/songwriter, made a name for herself with
the debut album, Coco. Caillat grew up in the idyllic clime of Malibu, Calif.
with music all around her. At the young age of 19, Caillat took up acoustic
guitar playing and wrote her first song. After compiling a number of tracks, she
put a few on MySpace, one of them being her smash hit, “Bubbly” which garnered
more than ten million plays. “Bubbly” struck a chord and initiated the launch of
Coco, named after a childhood nickname, which happened to stick. The songs are
full of memories imbued with irresistible warmth, which draw on a rich array of
influences including Norah Jones, Lauryn Hill, Bob Marley, John Mayer, Marvin
Gaye and Jack Johnson.
