The 47-year-old music diva Celine Dion sang a cover of Adele’s smash hit, “Hello” while performing a special New Year’s Eve show at Caesar’s Palace in Las Vegas.
Dion said “If I may, I would like Adele to be part of our New Year’s Eve,” Dion told the crowd as they burst into screams. “Don’t panic, she’s not in the building. …Do we need to change the battery in my microphone? It kind of lost it a bit. Adele, hello? Hello?”
The renowned singer then broke out into her rendition of “Hello” and, she just killed it.
“Hello” is currently spending its ninth consecutive week at No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100. Its parent album “25” recently became the first to sell more than 1 million copies in three different weeks.
The singer returned to her long-running residency at Caesar’s Palace in Sin City in August after taking a year-long vacation to take care of her husband Réné Angélil as he was battling throat cancer.
According to ET, Celine Dion said that she was ending the elongated vacation just because of her husband as he only pushed her to return back to the stage. She also mentioned that her first priority was her husband and her children.
Dion said, “We don’t know what the future holds,” she also added that her husband asked her to be strong enough and share her passion.
According to USA Today, “I didn’t want to be here at first, I don’t need it. Don’t get me wrong. I love singing for people, but I have priorities,” “But my biggest job is to tell my husband, we’re fine. I’ll take care of our kids. You’ll watch us from another spot.”
Celine Dion also added “The reason we did not come back before was because I wasn’t emotionally ready to come back,” Dion continued. “My husband and my family needed me. They still do.”
