After years of delay and long development, the next chapter to the fabled RPG franchise will be arriving this year.
With the long wait for a new Final Fantasy game to arrive, fans will surely be celebrating as Final Fantasy XV is confirmed to be releasing this year. This was according to a recent blog post in Square Enix’s blog where Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata left a New Year greetings and a special announcement. Here is the full translated message from the said blog post:
“Happy New Year!
We will finally release FFXV this year, in 2016! In development, previous phases required wisdom and strength. However, moving forward the final phase will focus on effort and willpower.
I vow to you all that every member in the team will do their best to the very last possible moment taking responsibility and pride in their craft.
We will do everything we can do to finish FFXV to create an experience we are incredibly proud of and one that you will enjoy and treasure.
The whole FFXV team appreciates all of the support from each and everyone one of you this past year.
I cannot tell you how much it means to all of us.
We’d like to celebrate a wonderful New Year and as we approach the release of FFXV, I’d like to enjoy that moment with you all.
-Director of FFXV Hajime Tabata”
Final Fantasy XV has been in a long period of development, it was originally announced as part of the Fabula Nova Crystallis of Final Fantasy XIII where it was still called Final Fantasy Versus XIII way back in 2006 and then the title was changed in 2013. A special demo called Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae was released in 2014 that was included in the early copies of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, where players can have a chance to try out the game’s combat system.
No definite date for the release was announced, but expect for the final date sometimes soon or during a major gaming convention.
