(1) BACKGROUND: Every
morning we check the wires, spider key sites and select
appropriate news and information to be posted to our
sites. Your release date* and by-lines are kept in
tack, as well as any third party distribution points
- i.e. Market Wire, PRNewsWire, etc... We will NEVER
remove that data and make any by-line, copyright or
other claims on the release. We do however remove the
following information from your release:
- Copyright notices
- Safe Harbor Statements
- Contact information that is NOT in the body of
the release. This data is entered into a temporary
database so that we may inform you of the posting.
* Note: Our Alerts, and site listings are all
date & time driven - and if you send us a release
that is more than a day old and we post it with that
date - it will never be seen - therefore from time
to time - we will REMOVE the date, and post it as
of "today."
(2) We STRONGLY recommend that you submit your press releases to us directly
at our
Yes, we check the wires every morning, and your web
site may even be one that we spider - but the only
way to be sure that we see your release is to send
it to us directly. Simply send your release to us in
either MS Word or plain text to
and we'll take it from there.
A few things to remember:
- TURN WORD WRAP ON - DO NOT
format it in any way sans the enter key! Let your
paragraphs run naturally across the "page" -
and at the end of the paragraph simply hit the enter
key twice to end that paragraph and start a new one.
- Do not use curly quotes in your headlines or expected
summaries! We supply many other web sites, our headlines
and summary's via RSS - and curly quotes are a problem
and cause the entire feed to be negated.
- Do not convert PDF files to any other format for
submission! It simply doesn't work properly, and
the formatting will be not be what you expected.
- If you are using MS Word for submissions - make
sure that that anything that doesn't belong in the
body of the release is in a header or footer field,
NOT simply at the top or bottom of the page. As you
know - on the net - there is no need for page numbers, "more's" or
other reoccurring data - so use those headers and
footers properly!
- Regarding Bullets - you would be surprised what
happens to some bullet characters when converted
to HTML! We recommend that you use "*" for
bullets. MS Word, will show you a normal bullet -
but when we covert it to html for our use - it will
convert back to "*"
- MS Word tables do not translate well to the net.
If you must use tables, do it in HTML i.e. <pre> </pre> and
you will find that things translate perfectly! OR Include the tables as jpg / gif files, with a reference to the file in your document.
(3) Send your photos along with your releases!
We can convert most formats to what we need, and to
the size that is appropriate for our use. If you want
to insure that we use them - send the release and photos
to us at least, a few days in advance of publication
date. We will embargo the release, convert the photos
and it will post as of the release date.
Please note:
- Photo Captions can be utilized - but don't make
us search for them - i.e. placed in the body of the
release. If you list the photos at the end of the
release - and use the captions as a "descriptor" -
that is the best way for us to find them, use them
and make sure that they are with the proper graphic
/ photo.
- If a complex photo layout is necessary - please
give us some kind of hint to where the graphics need
to be placed. If you have any questions - do not
hesitate to give us a call - or drop us an email.
We are more than happy to help you out - as it not
only makes your presentation better - but makes our
life a lot easier ;-)
- If possible - send us a high resolution version
of the insertion. No - we can't use it in it's hi-res
format - but it does insure that there will be only
one conversion before it is posted!
(5) Misc
- Embargoing news for release on a particular date
is not a problem. Just make sure you let us know
that this particular release or releases are to be
embargoed until a specific date and we will do so.
- Although we do post and publish every day - we
cannot insure your release will post on
a specific date - UNLESS you send it to us prior
to the date specified! Don't send your releases to
us the opening day of a show and expect it
to be posted that day - or in the case of some of
the larger trade shows - even in the next few days!
So, get us those releases at least one week prior
to the date you want it posted - and we will guarantee
the release date!

We get
a lot of questions, almost daily it seems, about various
topics that really boil down to a matter of principle
for us. You see, "kensei" is
not ONLY the name of our parent company, but a way
of "business
life!" NO - we're not talking about some cult
or anything, but there are just some things that we
will not do, won't bend on, and/or are just to damn
stubborn and set in our ways to change - no matter
the consequences! The following is a list - along with
our response to the most asked questions in this regard.
(Q) What do you charge
for posting our release on your site?
(A) There is no charge for simply posting
your release on our sites.
PLEASE DO NOT FORGET: Although we have
quite a few members of the press, analysts etc... who
are subscribers and visitors to our site on a daily
basis - we ARE NOT a press release distribution service
- or - "WIRE" service.
(Q) You didn't post my
submitted release. Why?
(A) There could be a single
reason - or many reasons combined, but here are the
individuals:
- We reserve the right to post or not to post any
press release submitted to us. This
choice is made at the sole discretion of the LasVegas
Trade Show Guide management. Under no circumstances
will the LasVegas Trade Show Guide, or her management,
be obligated to explain the specific reason a submitted
release is not posted sans to periodically update
the list that follows, however, we also do not assume
any liability because we have not updated the list.
- Any release, that in the opinion of the LasVegas
Trade Show Guide. management that contains foul or
profane language, or images and/or graphics that
is / can be considered pornographic. Will not be
posted.
- Any release, that in the opinion of the Las Vegas Trade Show Guide management contains references to, recommends, advertises, or in any other way promotes an activity that would be considered illegal in the continental United States will not be posted.
- Any release, that in the opinion of the LasVegas
Trade Show Guide. management is not appropriately
targeted, or "of interest" to
the reader of a the LasVegas Trade Show Guide.
Will not be posted.
- If your releases doesn't fall into either of the
first three categories - then there is a good chance
that we didn't receive it. Releases should be sent
ONLY to
. Any other address will delay the posting, or worse, be over looked etc...
and therefore will not be posted.
(Q) You put my release in the wrong
category on your site. Can I get you to correct the
placement?
(A) Yes, no and maybe! Category placement on our site,
as with the posting itself - is at the sole discretion
of the LasVegas Trade Show Guide. management. However,
we are always open for suggestions. Feel free to give
us a call or drop us an email at
to let us know.
(Q) I didn't submit my release directly,
but we use a "wire service" - why don't you
get my release from there?
(A) Many wire services
demand that the LasVegas Trade Show Guide, accept a
terms of service agreement that in all honesty we could
never abide by! IT IS NOT that the services, that we
do not use, are doing anything wrong - quite the contrary
- they are up holding the agreements that they have
with their clients. However, the understanding that
they have with their clients - and what WE are willing
to do - or - not do - are most likely two different
things!
(Q) What's wrong with XYZ service that
you're not using them?
(A) Sorry, but we're NOT
going to talk about specific wire or release distribution
services. However, here is what we will say:
- Many services, not only charge you for distributing
your press release, but wish to charge us for the
right to post it on our site. This is typically in
the guise of a charge for their "news feed" -
which we won't we anyway. For the why of this - click
here. Anyway...we have a moral issue with companies
who wish to charge us for the "right" to
post something on our site - which THEY were paid
to get posted on our site in the first place!
- We reserve the right to remove data from within
the release that is not meant for end user dissemination.
This includes, but is not limited to:
- Name, phone # and email address* of the responsible
PR company & employee, media contact information,
press contact contact information, etc...
- Editors notes
- Interview request information.
- In order to save space on our servers - we remove
all trademark, copyright, forward looking and "Safe
Harbor" statements. However, there is a standard
notice inserted into each release via SSI (Server
Side Include). You would be surprised at the savings
in server space this affords us - as there are times
when the notices are longer than the release itself!
However, we do not remove links to any disclaimers,
or forward looking statements, or any trademark or
copyright symbols. The ONLY exception to this are
those symbols found within the text that WE use to
title the article, or the article summary for our
database.
- Item 3 not withstanding - we do post all copyright,
trademark, forward looking statements and other disclaimers
when posting financial reports.
These 4 procedures of OUR choosing, are not in keeping
with the distribution agreements that most services
have with their clients.
* In addition to this information not being meant
for the end user, we have a moral issue with becoming
a email "harvesting" site for spam bots!
Everybody these days gets more than their fair share
of this garbage, and we do not want to make it any
easier on these spammers than it already is to gain
access to fresh email addresses.
(Q) But the information you're withholding
is being published by much bigger sites - what
makes you so special?
(A) Nothing - nothing at all. However, those sites
- i.e. Google, Yahoo, MSN etc... - are ONLY taking
a feed from the distribution service and don't have
a choice about what is published, where etc...whereas
we do! We hope that you will never find information
mis-categorized, inappropriate information posted etc...and
since we are already reviewing each and every release
- AND - we KNOW that there is some information not
meant for the general public - we choose to remove
it. To NOT do this would be simply doing a disservice
to the news makers - AND - to our readers.
Besides, our mothers always told us that JUST because
somebody else does it - doesn't make it right! ;-)
(Q) My service offers
a news feed, are you interested in using it on site?
(A) We DO utilize news
feeds from other PUBLICATIONS. These can be found in
our "OFF SITE NEWS" section. They are not
a true part of our site as they cannot be archived,
search or accessed unless you are a subscriber and
actually on the site. If you run an online publication,
please
, and fill us in, if applicable - we would be more than happy to add access
to your feed to our off site news listings.
If your talking about a release distribution feed
service - NO! Why?
- Although the vast majority of distribution services
do have the "proper categories" - i.e.
technology, financial's etc... - they seem to depend
upon either the news maker to insure proper placement
- or - some other search based methodology for the
placement. For example: 7-11, although does sponsor
a car racing team - they are first and foremost a
retailer - unfortunately, most of their releases
are "show-up" in automotive categories
rather than retail categories. Now, we don't track
7-11 for any of our services, but we would be very
confused if we did!
- As good as search engines are - they really aren't
good enough! If you take a multi-market company like
a Microsoft, or a Philips, or a Yamaha - unless the
search algorithm allows one to get extremely specific
and wide at the same time - incorrect data will be
received on each one of these companies. For example
- although we do track the Philips and Yamaha consumer
electronic products and chip sets - we do not track
Philips light bulb, defibrillators, or ovens - or
Yamaha motorcycles - but we haven't run into a search
engine that let's us get that specific. Conversely,
running a very specific search can overlook data
- for example: We do not track Microsoft enterprise
or IT specific products - however, a search that
would exclude these two product areas - would also
exclude a corporate financial report that talks about
these - as well as the products which we do cover.
- Feed technology utilized by most smaller companies
- like ours - are numerically and content limited
- and therefore temporary postings. For example -
the feeds that we provide, are limited to the last
5 posted in specific category - when a new releases
hits the database, the feed kicks off the oldest
of the 5, and inserts the new one. If you happen
to catch the release while it's in the rotation -
great - but if you missed it - oh well, better luck
next time.
We use what we loving call HET - Human Eyeball Technology
;-) Yes, it is much slower for us to read each and
every release - BEFORE it is selected for posting -
but it does insure that we are only posting data that
is of interest to our readers - and then placing it
in the proper category. In addition - since it is contained
within OUR database, is accessible to our readers for
as long as possible - which is typically 90 days on
the active list - and then 6 months in our archives.
(Q) I run a "Las Vegas Site" which is competitive to the Las Vegas Trade Show Guide - are you still interested in my press releases?
(A) Since the Las Vegas Trade Show Guide doesn't actually sell anything besides advertising, we do not consider the vast majority of sites out there as competitors! If you offer a product or service which our readers would be interested in, then, of course, we are interested! So, don't be shy - send us the release, the worse that can happen is we say no - and that is VERY rare! Who know, maybe we can form a mutually beneficial alliance!
If you have any further questions - do not hesitate
to drop us an email at:
and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.
