FINALLY – the Republicans in congress are starting to let it be known that the need for health care reform has NEVER been in dispute – it is the methodology that they are objecting too!
Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said on the floor last Wednesday (10.21.09)…
“Over the past several months, lawmakers in Washington have been engaged in a serious and wide-ranging debate about the fate of our nation’s health care system. It’s a debate that grew out of a recognition that while America may have the best health care in the world, the cost of care is too high and too many lack insurance.
“This much was never in dispute.
“There isn’t a single member of Congress from either party who doesn’t want to solve these problems. That’s why the disagreements we’ve had have arisen not over the ends, but over the means of achieving these common goals. And that’s why over the past few months, two very different approaches to reform have come into view.

But even if you don’t – just the above few paragraphs should put to rest what the Democrats and their left wing pundits have been claiming! Maybe now…just maybe…with that notion put to rest…Congress can get down to the business of DEBATING THE ISSUES – and not these personal attacks.
BTW: Not saying that the republicans have been much better – they can get down and dirty with the best of them! But – MY POINT – is that the Democrats have been using this as an excuse not to have Republican representation in the development of the legislation, or in the editing of it. Maybe now, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid can open those closed doors and come up with a bill that will get EVERY vote – NOT just the 60 he is aiming for now.
But you know something – I think that scenario is but a dream, and we will be living the nightmare very soon.
