As you know I normally don’t post poll numbers – as the numbers don’t mean much without knowing the questions – and the base of respondents! But the folks over at Hot Air have brought up an extremely interesting point – that although this particular poll resulted in some pretty dramatic swings…
- 54% disapprove of Obama economic performance – a 17-point swing in six weeks
- 57% now disapprove of Obama’s performance on health care, a 19-point swing in six weeks
The entity who was responsible for taking the poll, crunching the numbers and reporting the results – didn’t bother to mention those two little <sic> facts above!
The Entity? CNN – and their headline? CNN Poll: 54 percent approve of Obama
What they DO say – and it’s amazing in and off itself is:
The survey suggests that the president’s approval rating remains over 50 percent even though most Americans disapprove of how Obama is handling the economy, health care, Afghanistan, Iraq, unemployment, illegal immigration and the federal budget deficit.
Let’s see now, they disapprove on economy, health care, Afghanistan, Iraq, unemployment, illegal immigration, the federal budget deficit…what else is it that he is supposed to be doing that they DO Like? I mean the Halloween Trick or Treat thing was pretty cool – but that’s really a “so what” – when compared to those other issues…how about…the Beer Summit…not really…that accomplished nothing too. I know, I know – it’s the basketball courts installed outside at the White House…not really – they already had B-Ball courts inside, installing new ones outside is OK I guess and does give him a “I didn’t forget where I came from” photo opt every once in a while…
Well folks – I can’t think of thing he has done that could be considered a WOW – sans getting elected last year. And THAT is wearing mighty thin!
So what is it that we can determine from this? Well, IMHO – if I had an employee that I liked a lot – but he or she wasn’t getting the job done…I’d have to let them go. Don’t think that is going to happen with President Obama – but – his cronies in congress might be feeling the blow back sooner than him.
