Fooled them - didn't I
According to an article by Carol Driver of MailOnline:
President Obama is planning to increase spending on America’s nuclear weapons stockpile just days after pledging to try to rid the world of them.
Mr Obama has allocated £4.3billion to maintain the U.S. arsenal – £370million more than George Bush spent on nuclear weapons in his final year.
And it flies in the face of Obama’s Nobel Peace Prize, awarded to him in October…
But Obama did say…
‘I have embraced the vision of John F. Kennedy and Ronald Reagan through a strategy that reverses the spread of these weapons, and seeks a world without them.’
And Biden did say…
‘This investment is long overdue. It will strengthen our ability to recruit, train and retain the skilled people we need to maintain our nuclear capabilities.
Folks – it does seem that President Obama is burning up any good will and political capitol that he thinks he has on the other side of the pond! For the reporters and the man on the street to call him a lair – is well – something they didn’t even do when Bush was president!
