Dr. R.K.Pachauri

Well folks – lots of interesting developments in the world of global warming – and I’m not necessarily speaking about the predictions of 30″ of snow falling on our capitol – of course THAT is an issue but not the ones I’m thinking of.

What I am pondering is the number of countries pulling out of the United Nations “Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change!”  BTW: Did you  notice they no longer say “Intergovernmental Panel on Global Warming.” Of course, the big ones like the United States and China are still useing the form for political purposes – honest countries like India are saying bye bye and starting their own monitoring groups to monitor the effects of this phenomenon.

But wait a minute – isn’t the UN IPCC headed by one of India’s own leading scientists?  Well, matter of fact – Dr. R.K.Pachauri – IS one of India’s top men in this field.  But even the Government of India is saying that they cannot rely on him or the UN organization to reliably report factual information.

According to the Telegraph UK –

The move is a significant snub to both the IPCC and Dr Pachauri as he battles to defend his reputation following the revelation that his most recent climate change report included false claims that most of the Himalayan glaciers would melt away by 2035. Scientists believe it could take more than 300 years for the glaciers to disappear.  India forms new climate change body

Mr. Jairam Ramesh the environment minister of India made the announcement saying...that the government of India will form a separate “National Institute of Himalayan Glaciology” to monitor the effects of climate change in the Himalayas and that they will utilize “climate science” to assess the impact of global warming throughout the country of India. He noted…that while glacial melting in the Himalayas was a real concern – that there was contradictory evidence showing that some were actually advancing – despite “global warming.”

On the flip side of this discussion – the Netherlands is requesting that the IPCC explain a few inaccuracies in their 2007 report – such as – that the Netherlands is over 50% below sea level – where in face only 26% is.

In addition – since Glaciologists have throughly discredited the clams regarding the Himalaya’s (see above) – they wish to understand why both claims were never published in peer-reviewed journals.  British representitives have stated the “facts” came from a so called “green group” – and that they intern sourced that information from a magazine!

At LEAST the source of that data was the “New Scientist” magazine – it could have been the TV Guide or worse – the National Enquirer! I can see the headlines now…

Global Warming to destroy the earth in 2012, but not before aliens impregnate rual house wife out for a walk… I was just minding my on business, walking in the feild of poppies and next thing I new my legs where in their air and this little green guy – he was either very Irish or an alien,  was a pumping away like there was no tomorrow…

Of course I’m joking – But I doubt very much that an article in a consumer magazine should be held out to be scientifically accurate enough to set the world on a course to ruin! Come to think of it – WE may not be getting ah…impregnated by aliens – but it appears that we’re getting screwed never the less!
