LOOK - LOOK The sky is falling - the sky is falling - Robert F. Dennedy Jr.
It’s seems no matter WHAT the weather is – the folks screaming about climate change will spin the situation to fit their story-de-jur!
For example…
In September of 2008, the all wise one, far left spokesmen Robert F Kennedy Jr. was water skiing with his children when it dawned on him things are changing!
Note to self: Find out what kind of solar powered boat is strong enough to pull an adult skier in ocean waters.
It so moved him that he wrote an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times - lambasting anyone and everyone who didn’t see life through his rose colored glasses – starting with Sarah Palin…
and her…enthusiastic embrace of Big Oil’s agenda – If not Big Oil itself
that she is…a diligent student of Big Oil’s crib sheets.
And that…She’s something of a flat-earther who shares the current administration’s contempt for science. Palin has expressed skepticism about evolution (which is like not believing in gravity), putting it on par with “creationism,” which posits that the Earth was created 6,000 years ago.
Of course, in the same breath he accused
…Exxon Mobil and its carbon cronies continue to pour money into think tanks whose purpose is to deceive the American public into believing that global warming is a fantasy. ..
Like any good left winger who finds that someone in the media DARE disagree with him – he used this opportunity to put a shot across their bow saying…
Corporate America’s media toadies continue to amplify Exxon’s deceptive message. The company can count on its hand puppets — Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, John Stossel and Glenn Beck — to shamelessly mouth skepticism about man-made climate change and give political cover to the oil industry’s indentured servants on Capitol Hill.
And THEN he gets into the scare tactics – that I guess only he and Al Gore – another far left – do as I say not as I do wing nut – that…
Alaska is melting before our eyes; entire villages erode as sea ice vanishes, glaciers are disappearing at a frightening clip, and “dancing forests” caused by disappearing permafrost astonish residents and tourists.
But you know – all of that hyperbole, is no worse than his fond memories of life with Dad, not so long ago when the mansion in Hyannis never experienced lighting or thunder – or that the oceans waters never experienced funnel clouds or fierce storms with towering waves.
But times have changed out at the mansion – as global warming has made the waters so dangerous that this one day…
…sudden, fierce storm plunged us into a melee of towering waves, raking rain, painful hail and midday darkness broken by blinding flashes of lightning. As I hurried to get my children out of the water and back to the dock, I shouted over the roaring wind, “This is some kind of tornado.”
The fog consolidated and a waterspout hundreds of feet high rose from the white ocean and darted across its surface, landing for a moment on a moored outboard to spin it like a top, moving toward a distant shore where it briefly became a sand funnel, and then diffusing into the atmosphere as it rained down bits of beach on the harbor. For 24 hours, a light show of violent storms illuminated the coastline, accompanied by booming thunder. My dog was so undone by the display that she kept us all awake with her terrified whining. That same day, two waterspouts appeared on Long Island Sound.
Sounds terrifying doesn’t it? Of course it is!
But of course – it is not just Hyannis that is in trouble from global warming – but even our nations capitol has dramatically changed…
In Virginia, the weather also has changed dramatically. Recently arrived residents in the northern suburbs, accustomed to today’s anemic winters, might find it astonishing to learn that there were once ski runs on Ballantrae Hill in McLean, with a rope tow and local ski club. Snow is so scarce today that most Virginia children probably don’t own a sled. But neighbors came to our home at Hickory Hill nearly every winter weekend to ride saucers and Flexible Flyers.
In those days, I recall my uncle, President Kennedy, standing erect as he rode a toboggan in his top coat, never faltering until he slid into the boxwood at the bottom of the hill. Once, my father, Atty. Gen. Robert Kennedy, brought a delegation of visiting Eskimos home from the Justice Department for lunch at our house. They spent the afternoon building a great igloo in the deep snow in our backyard. My brothers and sisters played in the structure for several weeks before it began to melt. On weekend afternoons, we commonly joined hundreds of Georgetown residents for ice skating on Washington’s C&O Canal, which these days rarely freezes enough to safely skate.
Well I guess sir – those two paragraphs is what really set off this rant. You see – the DC area, and the rest of the mid-Atlantic states have just been hit by the 2nd worst snow storm in recorded history!
- Snow is being measure in feet – and folks are trapped in their cars – and now homes until someone can dig them out!
- My daughter who lives in Newark Ohio has received over 18″ of snow in only two days! And the headline news at the Washington Post? Coverage of the Dupont Circle Snowball Fight!!!!
- President Obama called the storm – “SnowMagaddon”

So Mr. Kennedy – I know that you are going to say that one can’t prove that climate change IS NOT happening based on a single storm – but – that is not even close to what I was going to say. What I would like you and your kind to do – is to NOT be like chicken little – claiming the sky is falling at every turn of the earth on it’s axis!
You and I are about the same age – and yes, I remember the snow falls in Bridgeport Ct – being as tall as I was! But, thinking back – I was only 6 years old, and not very tall!
I remember watching hurricanes hit Long Island, and dissipate before they hit Sea Side Park, and I remember sweltering summers, freezing fall tempretures, and beautiful winter days where you didn’t need a jacket.
The point?
If you don’t like the weather were you are – give it a minute it will change.
That is what my mom used to say every time it looked like bad weather was going to ruin our plans for a picnic, or family outing or what ever. And you know – she was right…A LOT!
I remember growing up and praying to God for ONE weekend were it didn’t rain during my summer vacation from school and now that I look back on it – there were plenty of them…I just didn’t remember them.
I remember sitting on our front stoop during a rain storm – watching the flag pole at the jail across the street wondering if it was going to get hit by lighting again! Sure enough – every time we had one of those storms – it got hit. Well, not really – but that is what I thought at the time.
I remember it raining so hard that the gutters quickly overflowed the curbs, and the streets became like a rushing river. The drain in the back of our driveway would stop up with leaves and other stuff – and there would be a couple of feet of water back there that I had to wade through and lift up the grate so the water would drain. Well, to tell you the truth – it wasn’t a couple of feet – but it did cover my feet with water – and where all that muck came from that blocked the drain is beyond me!
So back off Bobby and don’t try to justify your position on anything with what you remember from your childhood. It was ALWAYS bigger, ALWAYS better, ALWAYS more back then…even if it wasn’t.
