That’s the headline from a BBC News article from Friday! Within the first two paragraphs the whole story is told…
…the warmest year recorded globally was not in 2008 or 2007, but in 1998.
…For the last 11 years we have not observed any increase in global temperatures.
The problem I see with this and many other articles regarding global warming – is that the vast majority of the text is used to debunk what was and is the political / profit based science of Al Gore and friends – and not enough time spent on the real problems that pollution plays in our lives NOW and the worsening problem for our children tomorrow.
Air pollution, water pollution, and yes – even soil pollution in many parts of this country and the world is effect our lives on a daily basis and something needs to be done about that! Cuddly polar bears may seem like e great poster fodder – but IMHO – they distance the problem and make it seem like it’s only “over there!”
Is the truth so hard to swallow that it cannot be shown? Are the skies over cities in Asia, Europe and the U.S. not sickening enough for these so called “supporters of mother earth?” How about once pristine rivers and streams now rendered lifeless and choked with chemicals? How about the children afflicted with cancers and blood disorders only because their families were sold houses built on contaminated land fill?
Folks – to tell you the truth if we are more moved by the supposed plight of a polar bear 3000 miles away – than by the air that we breath, the rivers we used to enjoy, or even children dieing because of our past sins – then we have much bigger problems than the mere polluting of mother earth – and maybe, just maybe – we don’t deserve to make it to the next century mark.
Think about it
