On September 4, the trailhead parking lot for the historic Railroad Tunnel Trail at Lake Mead National Recreation Area will be temporary closed Monday -Thursday each week for about six weeks. The temporary closure is necessary because of construction work related to the segment of the 35-mile River Mountains Loop Trail that will run from Boulder City, through Lake Mead National Recreation Area, and down to the parking garage at Hoover Dam.
The Historic Railroad Tunnel Trail is a very popular hiking/biking trail for Southern Nevadans and we regret the inconvenience this will cause. On Monday-Thursday, visitors can park in the Alan Bible Visitor Center parking lot. This area is located just before the Historic Railroad Tunnel trailhead parking lot on Lakeshore Road.
