Dutch oven cook-off a hit at Cathedral Gorge

PANACA, Nev.--The third annual Dutch Oven Cook-off at Cathedral Gorge State Park was held Aug. 25, with approximately 130 people in attendance.
Thirteen families participated in producing twenty-three dishes for the participants to sample and judge, while ten families cooked fourteen dishes in 2006. This year there was a team of three judges for each entry based on taste, appearance and quality.
There were first, second and third place prizes in each category and one overall winner as the people’s choice award. The winners were:
Meat or Main Dish:
1st Place, Chicken Cordon Bleu, Easton Tingey
2nd Place, Chicken Nuggets, Bruce Hale
3rd Place, Budreau’s Crazy Chicken, Christy Budreau
Side Dish/Vegetables:
1st Place, Dr. Pepper/Pineapple Beans, Jordy Hale
2nd Place, Cheesey Potatoes, Ken Adams
3rd Place, Mini-Pizzas, the Ahlstrom family
Breads:

The Nevada Division of State Parks plans, develops and maintains a system of parks and recreation areas for the use and enjoyment of more than 2.3 million visitors a year. The division was established in 1963 by the Nevada Legislature to form a new state park agency within the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. The division manages and maintains 25 parks in Nevada.
