The
Grand Canyon Railway is
offering a variety of packages that allow travelers to visit one of the world’s
most famous destinations in a manner where getting there can be a true vacation
highlight.
“There
really is something special about going to the Grand Canyon on the train,” said
Angela Berrigan, vice president of sales and marketing for the Grand Canyon
Railway. “People comment on the relaxation that comes with being freed of
driving, the rhythm of the train going across the tracks or the feeling that
they have been transported to a different time.”
Grand
Canyon Railway packages feature roundtrip train travel to Grand Canyon National
Park, accommodations at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams, Ariz. and/or
inside the park and meals. Some packages include narrated motorcoach tours at
the South Rim of the Grand Canyon.
Rates are valid
through Oct. 14, 2008, based upon double occupancy for adults and do not include
taxes or park entrance fee. Packages this year include:
The Railway Getaway
is a one-night package featuring roundtrip coach-class train travel, one night
of lodging at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel in Williams and breakfast and dinner
per person. Rates are $159 for those 16 and older, $93 for ages 13-15 and $43
for children 2-12.
The
Railway Getaway Plus features roundtrip
coach-class train travel, two nights of lodging at Grand Canyon Railway Hotel
and two breakfasts and two dinners per person. Rates are $249 for those 16 and
older, $117 for ages 13-15 and $54.50 for children 2-12.
The
Canyon Limited features roundtrip
coach-class train travel, one dinner and one breakfast per person at Max and
Thelma’s Restaurant adjacent to the Williams Depot, one night of lodging at
Grand Canyon Railway Hotel, one night of lodging in Grand Canyon National Park
and a motorcoach tour of the South Rim with lunch. Rates are $291.50 for those
16 and older, $98 for ages 13-15 and $62.50 for children 2-12.
The
Canyon Limited Plus features roundtrip coach-class train travel, one night of
lodging at the Grand Canyon Railway Hotel followed by one night of lodging in
Grand Canyon National Park and a second night of lodging at the Grand Canyon
Railway Hotel, two breakfasts and two dinners per person at the Max &
Thelma's Restaurant and motorcoach rim tour with lunch. Rates are $401.50 for
those 16 and older, $122 for ages 13-15 and $74 for children 2-12.
The RV Getaway
features roundtrip coach-class train travel and an RV site for two nights at the
Grand Canyon Railway RV Park in Williams. Rates are $79 for those 16 and older,
$59 for ages 13-15 and $29 for children 2-12.
The RV Getaway Plus
features roundtrip
coach-class train travel and an RV site for three nights at the Grand
Canyon Railway RV Park. Rates are $89 for those 16 and older, $59 for ages 13-15
and $29 for children 2-12.

The
Grand Canyon Railway Hotel was designed to resemble the historic Fray Marcos
Hotel and Williams Depot structures that stand nearby. The hotel is comprised of
288 standard rooms, 11 luxury suites as well as two spacious meeting rooms
available for wedding receptions, seminars and other functions; a large
courtyard with barbecue and wet bar; a game room for children; a large enclosed
crescent-shaped pool and hot tub and an exercise room.
