Grand Canyon, AZ. – The emergency closure request for the Walla Valley Burn has been revised effective today (July 3, 2008). The W1 Road to Point Sublime on the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park is now open to vehicle travel. Point Sublime can now be reached by turning left on the W1 road at the W1/W4 intersection.
The W1 road and portions of the W4 road had been placed under an emergency closure during the Walla Valley Burn in order to assure visitor and firefighter safety. With this revision, the only segment of road that remains closed is the W4 road from its intersection with the W1 on the south, to its intersection with the W4A on the north. This section of the W4 road remains closed due to continued fire activity from the Walla Valley Fire.
