Willow Beach, Ariz. – The National Park Service and Arizona State Parks will celebrate the opening of the new fishing pier at Willow Beach during a ceremony to be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008. The pier was constructed with funding from the Arizona State Lake Improvement Fund (SLIF) at a cost of $826,872.
This is the first step in a multi-million dollar facility upgrade for the Willow Beach area that will begin early next year. The pier is self-adjusting and is designed to reduce long term operation and maintenance costs. It features an all aluminum structure on recycled molded plastic floats, is fully wheelchair accessible, and provides 2,280 square feet of space for the enjoyment of park visitors.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony
