ATLANTA, Nov. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Hooters of America is one of the first restaurant chains in the country to roll out Pay at the Table, a program created to lower credit card and identity theft. The system enables guests to pay with their credit, debit or gift cards at the table using an Ingenico Pay@Table device so the card never leaves the customer's possession.

"With the emergence of new technology that aid criminal activity, we are implementing this system to deter theft," explained Wes Marco, Director of IS for Hooters of America. "Although there has never been a case of any identity or credit card theft at Hooters, this new technology will ensure that our guests feel comfortable and secure when paying with a credit card."

The Pay at the Table system is used in many international countries, as well as retail and grocery outlets in the US. Hooters is testing this technology at the Hooters of Downtown Atlanta, before a system wide roll out planned for 2007. The restaurant began testing the system on October 26, 2006.

Hooters of America, Inc. is the franchisor and operator of over 430 Hooters restaurants in 46 states and 20 foreign countries. The first Hooters opened in 1983 in Clearwater, Florida. Hooters is well known for its brand of food and fun, featuring a casual beach-theme atmosphere, a menu that features seafood, sandwiches and Hooters nearly world famous chicken wings, and service provided by the All-American cheerleaders, the Hooters Girls.
