Las Vegas ? October 4, 2006- The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino presents Sound Tribe Sector 9 at the Joint as part of the Vegoose at Night Series inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Sunday, October 29th at 1:00 a.m. (late night Saturday)
Defining their music as the use of sound sculpture, Sound Tribe Sector 9 can?t be classified into a specific genre of music. STS9?s music combines an organic sound and danceable beats using both traditional instruments with samplers and computers. While infusing the core creative values of jazz greats, funk and soul innovators with the band?s own modern touch, STS9 continues to develop melodic movements and deep groove jams.
STS9?s first album, Interplanetary Escape Vehicle was issued in 1998 shortly after the band formed. Solidifying into a powerfully original and highly danceable jam band, STS9 began to tour constantly. Releasing Live in 1999 and Offered Schematics Suggesting Peace in 2000, the band created a large cult following among jam band and electronic music fans. Remix magazine said, ?The band is making electronic music relevant again (the way) such acts as Chemical Brothers and Prodigy brought something new to the table back in the 1990s.?
Five years passed before STS9 issued another album. The band followed up Peace with ARTiFACT, an ode to preservation and change to critical acclaim. Taking a hand on approach with ARTiFACT, STS9 produced and arranged all the material themselves. Spotlighting guest collaborations from jazz, electronic, hip hop and soul artists from around the world, ?STS9?s third studio album is a colorful collision of immense talent, technological innovation and creative vision of epic scope. There?s perhaps no band that better balances heart soul and intellect on music?s cutting edge.?
