Las Vegas ? October 11, 2006- The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino presents Beastie Boys at the Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino on Monday, October 23rd.
The Beastie Boys have been known for their influential and ambitious music since the 1980s. Otherwise known as Mike D (Mike Diamond), MCA (Adam Yauch) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz), the trio were the first white rap group of any significance, integrating their post-punk background into influential rap rhymes and beats. Gaining prominent exposure in 1985 opening up for Madonna on her Virgin Tour, the Beasties dropped Licensed to Ill in late 1986. The album topped the charts at number one and went on to become the biggest-selling rap album of the 1980s due in large part to the cornerstone single ?Fight For Your Right (To Party).?
Despite initial poor commercial performance, Paul?s Boutique was released in 1989 with the funky single ?Hey Ladies.? The album became a cult classic being hailed as a visionary with its cut-and-paste sample techniques. Check Your Head was issued in 1992, by surprise finding greater success on college and alternative rock radio than rap radio with songs like ?Jimmy James,? ?Pass the Mic? and ?So Whatcha Want.? Debuting at number one, Ill Communication landed in 1994. With the help of the essential 1990s tune ?Sabotage? the album went double platinum and lead to the Beasties to co-headline the Lollapalooza festival with the Smashing Pumpkins the same year.
Hello Nasty was released in 1998 with their hit single ?Intergalactic,? making the release the Beasties? third album to reach number one. The long-awaited album, To The 5 Boroughs (2004) followed Nasty?s same path topping the charts at number one with the infectious single ?Ch-Check It Out.? In 2006, the band released theatrically the concert film ?Awesome: I Fuckin? Shot That!,? a film pieced together from footage shot by 50 DV and Hi-8 cameras that were distributed to fans with little more instruction than to keep shooting.
