LAS VEGAS – January 7, 2008 – Cannery Casino & Hotel and Rampart Casino gave contestants another way to wager on America’s most popular sport by introducing a Fantasy Football Contestsm. After a successful regular season, Cannery Casino & Hotel and Rampart Casino have kicked-off a playoff mini-contest to declare a Fantasy Football champion.
The playoffs mini-contest is a three-week accumulative point total using the NFL playoffs and paying the top 10 winners. Contestants will accumulate points for each correct pick over the course of the three-week playoff period, which includes the wild card, divisional and conference championship rounds. There will be no weekly winners during the playoffs. At the conclusion of the playoffs, prize money will be awarded to the top 10 finishers. Contestants are playing for a total prize pool of $35,000 with first place receiving $10,000 and the tenth place finisher receiving $1,000. There are a total of 132 entries competing for a share of the mini-contest prize pool.
“I never ran a contest that has received better feedback and ran as smoothly as the Fantasy Contest of 2007,” said Eric St. Clair, director of race & sports for Cannery Casino Resorts. “Next year’s contest will be even better due to the input by the contestants and the knowledge learned from this year’s contest.”
The Fantasy Football Contestsm consisted of a 17-week regular season contest in which the first place weekly winner received $5,000 and automatic entry into the playoff mini-contest. The top 50 seasonlong accumulative points winners also received an entry into the playoff mini-contest. Only one entry per contestant was allowed into the mini-contest.
