Honor Women and Moms, Receive Five AAdvantage Miles per Dollar Donated

FORT WORTH, Texas – American Airlines has launched “Miles for the Cure,” a special fundraising campaign that rewards donors by giving them five AAdvantage® miles for every dollar they contribute to Susan G. Komen for the Cure®.

Through May 31, American’s customers can support the fight against breast cancer or honor someone who has been affected by the disease, by simply visiting www.AA.com/komen and making a donation.

“The fight against breast cancer touches so many people, ” said Roger Frizzell, American’s Vice President – Corporate Communications and Advertising. “It’s a cause we know literally thousands of our customers and employees are passionate about. It’s terrific to be able to support such an important organization while rewarding our customers with AAdvantage miles.”

“American Airlines has been an invaluable partner to us over the years, and we believe this new fundraising program will give audiences a new way to engage in the breast cancer movement and support research that will find the cures for breast cancer,” said Katrina McGhee, Vice President of Marketing, Susan G. Komen for the Cure. “This time of year, with Mother’s Day coming up, it’s a wonderful opportunity to recognize and remember the people we love.”

American Airlines has supported Susan G. Komen for the Cure for more than 20 years as a national sponsor, as well as being the official carrier of the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure® series. This fall will mark the 14 th year that American has presented the American Airlines Annual Golf and Tennis weekend fundraiser to benefit Komen for the Cure. In addition, hundreds of American employees, their friends, and families participate in Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure events across the nation.

“A donation to Susan G. Komen for the Cure is a great Mother’s Day gift, or a special gesture to honor the important people in our lives,” Frizzell said. “American Airlines is proud to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure in its quest to save lives and end breast cancer forever.”

About Susan G. Komen for the Cure
Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.
