K-1 USA Presents the Return of “Battle at Bellagio,”

Event To Feature Explosive Superfighters Including Ray “Sugarfoot” Sefo, Bjorn Bregy,
“Mighty Mo” and Chalid “Die Faust”; Preliminary Bout To Include
Oxygen Network’s “FIGHT GIRLS” Finalist Ardra Hernandez
 
         LAS VEGAS – The action-packed K-1 “Battle at Bellagio” World Grand Prix returns Saturday, Aug. 11 in Bellagio’s Grand Ballroom when eight of the top martial arts fighting champions from around the world battle compete for the chance to advance to the championship event in front of 70,000 K-1 fans at Japan’s Tokyo Dome later this year.
 
         Tickets priced at $300 (VIP seating), $200, $100 and $50 are now on sale and can be purchased by calling Bellagio’s box office at 888-488-7111, or by visiting K-1 USA’s official website at www.K-1usa.net.  Event doors will open at 5 p.m. and the card’s first preliminary bout begins at 5:30 p.m. The main tournament is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
 
         The customary eight-man, elimination-style tournament will feature some of the greatest fighters to step into the K-1 ring including former Air Force and Armed Services heavyweight boxing champion and Northern California native “Savage” Rick Cheek (19-0, 17 KOs), New Orleans Muay Thai stylist Patrick Berry (14-3-1, 8 KOs), Miami native Esh’ Chadar “The Dispossessor” Brown Ton (6-1, 3 KOs), Russia’s Alexander Pitchkounov (6-1-1, 3 KOs), K-1 Japan semi-finalist Tsuyoshi Nakasak (18-24-1, 5 KOs), Sweden’s Ricardo Nordstrand (16-6, 3 KOs) and Zabit Samedov (50-5, 26 KOs) of Belarus.
 
         In addition to the card’s exciting tournament line-up, the evening will be highlighted by several “Superfights,” or single bouts, that feature the sport’s brightest stars.  The individuals scheduled to compete include hard-hitting demolition man and two-time K-1 tournament champion “Mighty Mo” Siligia from San Bernardino, Calif.  He will face K-1’s hottest superstar from Germany, and winner of the 2006 “Battle at Bellagio,” Chalid “Die Faust” Arrab.  K-1 superstar and four-time world kickboxing champion Ray “Sugarfoot” Sefo battles Switzerland’s 2006 K-1 Amersterdam tournament champion Bjorn Bregy while Germany’s Stefan Leko will fight Magomed Magomedov from Belarus.
 
         The August 11 event also will feature a preliminary bout highlighted by Las Vegas resident Ardra Hernandez.  Hernandez is currently competing for the World Muay Thai Championship in Thailand on Oxygen Network’s reality show “FIGHT GIRLS.”
 
         K-1 is a martial arts fighting sport that derives its name from its inclusion of a wide array of combat disciplines including Karate, Kung-Fu and Kickboxing (“K”), with an intent to determine one champion in one ring (“1”).  Staged for the first time in Japan in 1993 under the direction of founder Master Kazuyoshi Ishii, K-1 has now evolved into the country’s most popular sport and has achieved popular culture status as its athletes are larger-than-life celebrities.  For more information visit www.K-1usa.net.
