Andrew Schoepfer celebrated his birthday yesterday on July 4th. He officially turned 21 and therefore is now the youngest player to enter the 2008 WSOP at EXACTLY 21 years of age!
Other records at this tournament?
Howard "Tahoe" Andrew played yesterday insuring his hold on the longest consectutive streak for years of WSOP participation. He has played in at least one WSOP tournament every year since 1974, making this his 34th stright year.
That said, David Sklansky added to his record of at least ATTENDING the WSOP tournament - if not actually participating in it that year. His streak started in 1972 - which gives him 36 years of WSOP attendence.
We are now up to four married couples to play in the WSOP main event! 3 played in Day 1-A, and Roberty & Olga Vakonyi played yesterday in Day 1 B.
Hal Lubarsk, the first blind player ever to cast at the WSOP 2007 tournament was back playing on Day 1 B - and made the cut finishing his day with 70,700 chips - which puts him in the top 20% of the field so far. Hal, is totally blind, and cannot see even with special glasses - so he utilizes a "card reader" who sits behind him and berbalizes the hold cards and board cards by whispering into his ear. Hal however, makes ALL of the table decisions.
