The Las Vegas Monorail is honoring Memorial Day by inviting all locals to “play tourist” this weekend and ride the Monorail for free while enjoying a wide array of free entertainment on its 4-mile route along the Las Vegas Strip.

Locals ride the Monorail for free this Saturday, Sunday and Monday by showing Nevada ID at all Monorail station Customer Service Booths from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. to receive two single-ride tickets per person per station.

On Sunday afternoon, the Monorail and its partners are sponsoring free entertainment, contests and giveaways at its stations. Entertainment includes magic and juggling acts, an airbrush tattoo artist, DJs, jazz and reggae bands, karaoke, a fashion show and opportunities to meet performers from top Las Vegas shows, plus “Elvis” with showgirls, celebrity impersonators and more.

Also on Sunday afternoon, riders can enter a contest to win a Las Vegas vacation package that includes a two-night stay in a new Flamingo Las Vegas “GO” room with dinner for two at the hotel’s Steakhouse ’46 restaurant and two round-trip Southwest Airlines tickets from Southwest Airlines Vacations. To enter, riders simply pick up a stamp card and have it validated by Monorail Ambassadors at participating stations.

The Monorail also offers locals a special everyday fare of $1 for a single- ride ticket, available at all Monorail station Customer Service Booths from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.  Residents must show Nevada ID and can purchase two single-ride tickets at a time.

Locals ride for free this Saturday through Monday. Free entertainment runs from 1-4 p.m. on Sunday. The Monorail operates from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Monday.

The events take place along the Monorail’s 4-mile route along the Las Vegas Strip, from the MGM Grand to the Sahara hotel-casinos. Access Monorail stations through MGM Grand, Bally’s Las Vegas, Harrah’s Las Vegas, Imperial Palace, Flamingo Las Vegas, Las Vegas Hilton or the Sahara Hotel and Casino, or at the Las Vegas Convention Center.  Entertainment will be offered at six of the seven Monorail stations on the station platforms.
