Magellan, the fastest-growing GPS brand in the world, today introduced
the Maestro Elite 3270, which features the first state-of-the-art, flat-panel
touch-screen display in the portable vehicle navigation industry. The new
Maestro Elite solution can be viewed this week in Las Vegas at the Consumer
Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas in Magellan’s booth
(no. 31247).
The compact 3.5-inch Maestro Elite 3270 unit features a seamless touch-panel
that integrates the newest display technology for a highly responsive screen and
an elegant, high-tech look. Even a light touch will instantly get users to the
next screen with its high-sensitivity display. Magellan is the first GPS
manufacturer to eliminate the plastic bezel housing common to portable
navigation devices. The result is an edge-to-edge, completely flat touch display
that gives the Maestro Elite 3270 a state-of-the-art, seamless surface with
sensitivity and performance superior to anything else on the market today.
“Portable auto navigation has easily been one of the
best-selling categories this holiday season, underscoring how GPS adoption is
growing rapidly among mass consumers,” said Nelson Chan,
president and CEO of Magellan. “With the Maestro Elite
3270’s flat-panel screens, Magellan is driving the next
level of consumer demand for elegant, fully featured compact navigation
solutions. The complete set of features, its elegant design, ease of use and
exclusive AAA TourBook and Roadside Assistance make GPS a pleasure to use, with
a style that people simply desire.”
Fully loaded, compact, and traffic-enabled
The Maestro Elite 3270 – priced at $499 – also will feature Magellan’s
proprietary SayWhere™ text-to-speech technology that
announces street names, Bluetooth capability for hands-free calling, pre-loaded
maps of North America, Puerto Rico and Mexico and more than 6 million searchable
points of interest (POIs). At only 17.8 mm thick and just 82.5 mm tall, the new
Maestro packs dozens of advanced mapping features and a bright 3.5-inch QVGA
screen into the industry’s most compact, portable auto
navigation unit.
Magellan’s exclusive AAA TourBook® travel guide and member Roadside
Assistance information comes preloaded in the Maestro Elite 3270, as does an
integrated live traffic receiver with a free three-month subscription to
Magellan’s real-time traffic service.
The Maestro Elite 3270 will be compatible with Magellan VantagePointTM, the only desktop application on the market that helps
people manage their GPS maps, information, and other content and easily sync it
to their devices. Through VantagePoint, which is a free download from http://www.magellangps.com, Magellan customers can personalize
and expand their GPS experience.
Available in Q1 2008, the Maestro Elite 3270 products ship with a windshield
mount and cradle, a cigarette lighter adapter, protective pouch, A/C power
adapter, USB data cable and an adhesive disk for dash mounting. For additional
