Coors Brewing Company and the SandLot Brewery at Coors Field received honors for
several of their brews at the 2007 Great American Beer Festival. Coors Light won
the bronze medal in the American Style Light Lager category. Move Back, brewed
by The Sandlot Brewery, won the Gold in the Dortmunder/European Style Export
category. Green Side Up, also brewed by the SandLot, won a Silver medal in the
German Style Oktoberfest/Weisen (Meadow) category.
The 2007 Great American Beer Festival featured more than 100 professional
judges testing 2,793 beers, handing out 222 medals. Per the rules of the
competition, judges only award gold, silver or bronze medals when there are
excellent examples of the style of beer in the category.
"We look forward to showcasing our brewing talents each year at the Great
America Beer Festival," said Warren Quilliam, vice president, brewing and
quality assurance for Coors Brewing Company. "We're proud that the great brews
coming from the Sandlot Brewery continue to receive accolades and that our most
popular beer, Coors Light, was once again recognized in an incredibly
competitive category."
Coors Brewing Company was an official sponsor of this year's Great American
Beer Festival, the nation's premier celebration of American breweries. Coors is
one of only nine breweries, and the only major brewer, that has been involved
with the festival since its inception 26 years ago.
