SPECIAL TO CELEBRATE NEW STARS AND PAST LEGENDS OF THE WORLD FAMOUS BASKETBALL TEAM

The Harlem Globetrotters will return to broadcast television for the first time in 14 years in a primetime special on MyNetworkTV, announced the network’s President, Greg Meidel and Kurt Schneider, Globetrotters CEO.  The hour-long program will be presented Wednesday, January 30, 2008 at 9:00 p.m. (ET/PT).

In making the announcement, Meidel stated, “MyNetworkTV is excited to present the return of the Harlem Globetrotters.  The combination of heated rivalry, the team’s storied history and memorable players both new and old will make this special a slam-dunk for fans.”

The special will feature the Globetrotters against the Washington Generals – returning from a 12-year hiatus to pursue a victory over their long-time nemesis.

The program will include exclusive interviews with current Globetrotter stars, such as “Special K” Daley, “Scooter” Christensen, “Showtime” Gaffney, “Flight Time” Lang and “Wildkat” Edgerson. In addition, it will chronicle some of the greatest moments from the team’s more than eight decades of entertaining audiences worldwide, with first-person reminiscing from legends such as “Curly” Neal, “Sweet” Lou Dunbar and “Tex” Harrison.  Celebrities from the current team will also share their favorite Globetrotter memories and moments from the team's history.

Globetrotters CEO Kurt Schneider, whose team is in the midst of its 82nd consecutive season of touring the world, added: “The Harlem Globetrotters are one of the world’s most enduring family entertainment brands for very good reason. We are thrilled that MyNetworkTV has given us this platform to not only celebrate our rich history, but to showcase our exciting new show for people across the country.  Our newest generation of fans will be as entertained watching ‘Special K,’ ‘Scooter’ and all of our great players as their parents and grandparents were watching ‘Curly’ Neal, ‘Sweet’ Lou, ‘Meadowlark’ Lemon, ‘Geese’ Ausbie and our many other legends.”
