New York and W. Hollywood, CA - (December 18, 2007) -
Ticketmaster and the National Football League (NFL) today announced the creation
of an NFL Ticket Exchange service that will provide fans looking to buy or sell
NFL tickets a safe, convenient and league-endorsed resale platform. Through the
groundbreaking multi-year agreement, Ticketmaster will operate the official
league-wide exchange that will be accessible from both the Ticketmaster website,
Ticketmaster.com, and the NFL website, NFL.com.
As the official NFL online ticket exchange provider, Ticketmaster will offer
fans a secure and reliable way to buy and resell tickets. The service, which is
targeted to launch for the 2008 season, will serve fans unable to attend a game
and wanting to sell their tickets as well as fans looking to buy or upgrade
their seats.
“We are pleased to partner with Ticketmaster, the world’s leading ticketing
company, to provide our fans this service,” said Eric Grubman, the NFL’s
Executive Vice President and President of NFL Ventures. “The ticketing
marketplace continues to evolve and sports fans demand more creative
opportunities to experience our games. We will now be able to meet their
expectations with our safe, consistent, and guaranteed service. The new
partnership also will enable us to work with Ticketmaster to further develop
fan-friendly ticketing programs and innovations.”
“Fans expect and deserve to be able to resell their tickets in a safe,
convenient and legal way,” said Eric Korman, Executive Vice President of
Ticketmaster. “We are thrilled that the NFL has entrusted Ticketmaster as its
partner to provide to NFL fans everywhere the best possible resale experience.
This is a great win for fans, who benefit from the unparalleled security and
efficiency of our technology, which will connect the league, the majority of NFL
teams, and millions of NFL fans around the country.”
Ticketmaster already provides primary ticket services, including advance and
onsite single game ticket sales, season ticketing and group ticketing for 31 NFL
teams. Additionally, TicketExchange, Ticketmaster’s fan resale ticketing
platform, is currently used by 18 NFL teams, including the Arizona Cardinals,
Buffalo Bills, Carolina Panthers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions,
Kansas City Chiefs, Miami Dolphins, Minnesota Vikings, New England Patriots, New
Orleans Saints, New York Giants, New York Jets, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh
