RICHMOND, Va. (June 28, 2008) – Tony Kanaan drove the Team 7-Eleven car to victory for the 13th time in Kanaan’s IndyCar Series career at Saturday’s running of the SunTrust Indy Challenge at Richmond International Raceway.

Helio Castroneves finished second. He was followed by Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon and Oriol Servia. Motorola driver Danica Patrick finished sixth, Blockbuster driver Marco Andretti finished ninth and Formula Dream driver Hideki Mutoh finished 13th.

The IndyCar Series returns to the race track on Sunday, July 6, at Watkins Glen International. ABC Sports will broadcast the Camping World Grand Prix beginning at 3:30 p.m. (EDT). The race will also be heard on XM Satellite Radio, channel 145, the official home of the IndyCar Series.

Tony Kanaan, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“It was a tough race at first but once we got going, I knew we could do it with the Team 7-Eleven car. The problem was we had a lot of yellows and people making mistakes. Traffic was really good; everybody did a good job trying to keep away from the leaders. It was a great race apart from all of the yellows.”

Eric Cowdin, Race Engineer, #11 Team 7-Eleven Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“It is actually more of a relief for the Team 7-Eleven guys. It was a great team effort from all four AGR cars today. We have been in this situation before with 20 laps to go and it has not worked out this well so it is a relief to get this one. The championship is within our grasp so we have to keep our heads down and get a few more of these under our belt.”

Patrick Finishes Sixth

Motorola driver Danica Patrick drove to a sixth place finish in Sunday’s running of the SunTrust Indy Challenge.

Danica Patrick, #7 Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“It was a carnage fest out there tonight with all the wrecks and cautions. I am happy with my finish obliviously I wish we could have finished in the top five. The Motorola crew did a great job. I am also very happy that Tony (Kannan) got his win – he totally deserved it.”

Kyle Moyer, Race Strategist, #7 Motorola Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“It was a good day for the Motorola Car. From where we started, I think we did a good job finishing at sixth place finish. Danica ran very good and the car ran good so we will take the sixth finish.”

Andretti Finishes Ninth

Marco Andretti, driver of the #26 Blockbuster car, finished ninth at the SunTrust Indy Challenge at Richmond International Raceway.

Marco Andretti, #26 Blockbuster Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“I am incredibly disappointed. The Blockbuster car was the best car on the track today but good job to Tony for getting his first win of the year.”

Eddie Jones, Race Engineer, #26 Blockbuster Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

"It is a great shame for the Blockbuster team today. Marco drove a terrific race. It seemed like we had the car to win. Unfortunately that is the nature of these short ovals. We got caught out there when the other guys got to pit under yellow and that put us right to the back of the field. It is awfully tough from there for Marco to work his way back through. It is tough because I think a win was snatched from us but our teammate won so it is a good day for AGR.”

Mutoh Finishes 13th

RICHMOND, Va. (June 28, 2008) – Formula Dream driver Hideki Mutoh finished 13th at the SunTrust Indy Challenge.

Hideki Mutoh, #27 Formula Dream Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“It was a tough race for the Formula Dream team. I was trying to move up to the front, but I couldn’t find the speed. Then my drive shaft broke when I stopped on the fourth pit stop. I wish I was able to finish the race, but things like this happen. I am looking forward to the next race in Watkins Glen.”

Kim Green, Race Strategist, #27 Formula Dream Dallara/Honda/Firestone:

“ Hideki was trying very hard and out pit stops were good but unfortunately, his drive shaft broke and we had to end the race. We had a good strategy so he could’ve finished in the top five if things went well. We hope we will do well in the next race.”
