LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific
Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will open an
eight-game homestand on Tuesday, May 6 against the Memphis Redbirds, Triple-A
affiliate of the St. Louis Cardinals, at Cashman Field. The series against the
Redbirds will run from Tuesday-Saturday, May 6-9, with all games at 7:05 p.m.
The 51s will then host the Nashville Sounds, Triple-A affiliate of the Milwaukee
Brewers, in a four-game series from Saturday-Tuesday, May 10-13. Las Vegas is
playing a stretch of 16 straight games against the PCL's American Conference
(April 28 - May 13).
The 51s, under manager Lorenzo Bundy, are currently in a three-way tie
for first place with Fresno and Sacramento in the Pacific Conference Southern
Division with a 15-14 record. Las Vegas has a 3-3 record on the eight-game road
trip that will conclude on Monday afternoon in Round Rock, Texas, against the
Express, Triple-A affiliate of the Houston Astros.
Game three of the series will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night on
Thursday, May 8. Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will be presented during every
Thursday home game throughout the 2008 season.
The finale of the series against the Redbirds on Friday, May 9 will feature a
spectacular "Fireworks Show" following the final out. The fireworks show
will be sponsored by Hooters Casino and Hotel.
The 51s, in conjunction with radio partner Lotus Broadcasting, are proud to
announce that KOMP 92.3 FM will help promote all Budweiser Dollar Beer Nights
and KXPT 97.1 FM will help promote all the fireworks shows during the 2008
campaign.
The Redbirds feature four of the top 10 prospects in the Cardinals
organization, according to Baseball America: outfielder Colby Rasmus (No.
1), right-handed pitcher Chris Perez (No. 2), catcher Bryan
Anderson (No. 3) and right-handed pitcher Mitchell Boggs (No. 8).
The popular Kids Carnival returns to Cashman Field for the series
opener against Nashville on Saturday, May 10. The kids' carnival is free to all
fans with a purchase of a game ticket from 5 to 7 p.m. The 51s host the Sounds
at 7:05 p.m.
Game two of the series will feature a matinee contest on Sunday, May 11
(Mother's Day) at 12:05 p.m. The Sunday afternoon games during the 2008 campaign
will feature "Kids Run The Bases After The Game." The final two games of the
homestand on Monday-Tuesday, May 12-13 will be played at 7:05 p.m.
Following a scheduled off day on Wednesday, May 14, the 51s will embark on an
eight-game road trip to the Pacific Northwest. Las Vegas will travel to
Portland, Ore., to face the Beavers, Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres,
from Thursday-Sunday, May 15-18 and to Tacoma, Wash., to face the Rainiers,
Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, from Monday-Thursday, May 19-22.
Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field box
office. The box office is open Monday-Friday (non game days) from Noon to 4:30
p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000,
www.ticketmaster.com). TicketMaster outlets are located at selected Smith's Food
& Drug, Ritmo Latino and Macy's, located at The Fashion Show & The
Galleria Mall.
The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $8.00
(general admission), $9.00 (reserved), $11.00 (plaza) and $13 (field). The
traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved
and G.A. seats throughout the season except for the holiday fireworks shows on
July 2 & 3 (all seats at $13.00). The Dugout Seats (blue seats behind home
plate) are sold out for the entire home schedule.
