Jerry’s Nugget Casino hosts weekly Del Mar Handicapping Contest for the 2008 horse race season

LAS VEGAS – July 23, 2008 – It’s that time of the year again “where the turf meets the surf” at the Del Mar Thoroughbred Club, and Jerry’s Nugget is accommodating the Southern California action right here in Las Vegas. Every Saturday, now through August 30, Jerry’s Nugget, a locals’ favorite casino for more than 40 years, will host the Del Mar Handicapping Contest.
Every week is a new contest: simply pick your favorite horse in any five of the first eight races on the Saturday Del Mar card and accumulate points for Win, Place and Show. The first place prize is $400 CASH and second place pays $100 CASH. Contest winners who are More Club card holders will also receive a bonus dining certificate of $30, good for any restaurant at Jerry’s Nugget. “The Del Mar meet offers such great racing and our contest has grown in popularity each and every year; that’s why we’re pleased to be able to offer our Del Mar Handicapping Contest for a third consecutive season,” said Mark Dufty, Jerry’s Nugget Race and Sports Book director. “Every Saturday morning we’ll offer free donuts and coffee, so come early, grab a seat and get handicapping!”
Customers interested in participating in the Del Mar Handicapping Contest will be able to do so in the recently revamped Race and Sports Book. Upgraded features include comfortable chairs, spacious race desks and individual monitors. For those looking for the big screen action, Jerry’s Nugget has five giant projection screens and 20 large screen plasma TVs to view all of your favorite race and sports action.
