For almost thirty years now, Audi has organized driver training courses for
customers who want to learn how to control the performance of a sporty car more
safely. More than 250,000 drivers have already attended these events. Every
year, Audi driving experience holds some 700 training courses in 40 countries –
a full, attractive program for dynamic drivers.
These figures tell a story – a big success story. To date, more than 250,000
drivers have improved their skill with Audi driving experience, most recently
18,000 of them at approximately 700 courses in 2007. At the 220 winter events
held in the past season, 15 instructors coached some 4,800 participants on ice
and snow. This once again confirmed Audi driving experience’s leading
international position as an organizer of winter driver training.
Participants drive cars made available by Audi, at the moment about 100 of
them, of the types Audi A4 3.2 quattro, Audi TTS, Audi A8 4.2 TDI quattro, Audi
RS 6, Audi Q7 4.2 TDI quattro and Audi R8.
Audi driving experience has a background that, typically for a dynamic
carmaker like Audi, began in the motor sport department in 1980, when former
race driver Count Freddy Kottulinsky organized training for technical staff, to
help them avoid accidents during test runs.
These training sessions were so successful that the Audi Board of Management
decided in 1981 to offer them to other employees, dealers and customers. The
driver and safety training program, known as Audi driving experience from 1999
on, grew rapidly. Audi has extended the program regularly and modified it to
include specific new tasks.
Audi driving experience has a varied program, from classic summer and winter
training through racetrack training, individual training and efficiency training
to adventure tours. As well as firm dates in the calendar, there is a whole
series of events organized at customers’ request, many of them in other
countries as well. Audi driving experience can be sampled in 40 countries all
over the world, and as interest continues to grow, Audi will be extending the
program still further.
Audi driving experience programs and application forms can be found on the
Internet as well, at www.audi.de/driving.
