Improvement work will require some freeway restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (November 30-December 3). The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) recommends drivers give themselves extra travel time while the following restrictions are in place:
- Eastbound US 60 (Superstition Freeway) narrowed to one lane between Crismon Road and Mountain View Road (in the Apache Junction area) from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday for bridge joint work and lane striping. Drivers are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time and to merge safely approaching the work zone while crews are working in the area.
- Northbound Interstate 17 closed at Thomas Road (north of the I-10 “Stack” interchange) from 11 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Saturday (December 1) for overhead sign work. Both I-10 ramps to northbound I-17 at the Stack also closed during this overnight restriction. Northbound I-17 on-ramp at McDowell Road closed. Traffic will detour along the northbound I-17 frontage road or other local streets. Drivers can use northbound State Route 51 as an alternate freeway route.
- Interstate 17 narrowed to one lane in each direction near the Carefree Highway (SR 74) interchange from 10 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday (December 3) for work to build a new, wider bridge over I-17. Drivers are encouraged to give themselves extra travel time and to merge safely approaching the work zone during this overnight restriction.
- Northbound Interstate 17 on-ramp at Pinnacle Peak Road closed from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday (December 3) for lane striping. Drivers who normally use this ramp can use the ramps at Happy Valley Road or Deer Valley Road as alternate routes.
Reminder: Inclement weather can affect freeway work schedules.
