Traffic delays can be expected when a $4 million flood control improvement project gets underway in the area of Jones Boulevard and Michael Way, just north of Madre Mesa Drive.
Starting Tuesday, February 19, and continuing through the next several months, temporary traffic lane restrictions may be in effect on Jones Boulevard between Brooks Avenue and Peak Drive. Also during the construction, Michael Way will temporarily close to traffic between Avenida Caballo and Sheila Avenue.
In addition to the construction activity on Jones Boulevard and Michael Way, work is planned to take place in the unpaved drainage easement along the Peak Drive alignment that is in the vacant area north of Sheila Avenue between Jones Boulevard and Michael Way.
Most work will take place during the daytime hours although some night work may be necessary. The Peak Drive Improvement Project will take approximately 11 months to complete.
As traffic delays and disruptions can be expected, Rainbow Boulevard and Rancho Drive/Decatur Boulevard are suggested as alternate routes for through north-south travel.
JNJ Engineering Construction, Inc. is the contractor for the project. Funding is provided by the Clark County Regional Flood Control District.
