Freeway improvement projects will require closures or lane restrictions in the Phoenix area this weekend (May 30-June 2). A previously scheduled Saturday night closure of northbound Interstate 17 between Pinnacle Peak and Happy Valley roads has been postponed to a future weekend. The Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) recommends drivers allow extra travel time and drive safely while the following work is under way:
- Northbound Loop 101 (Pima Freeway) left lane closed between Chaparral Road and Via De Ventura from 4 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday (May 31) for carpool lane work zone adjustments. DETOUR: Drivers urged to slow down and merge safely in work zone.
- Project Benefit: New HOV lanes will add traffic capacity while encouraging drivers to carpool or use transit services, including express buses.
- Northbound Interstate 17 ramps to Interstate 10 at the Stack interchange north of Van Buren Street closed from 10 p.m. Saturday to 7 a.m. Sunday (June 1) for maintenance work. DETOUR: Drivers who normally use these ramps should detour on local streets, including McDowell Road.
- Northbound Loop 303 closed at Bethany Home Road from 6 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday (May 31) for maintenance work. DETOUR: Traffic will be detoured along local streets.
