Traffic lane restrictions can be expected on Las Vegas Boulevard between Carson and Ogden Avenues during the overnight hours, March 11 through 13, as construction on the Fremont East Entertainment District Improvement Project continues.
Las Vegas Boulevard will narrow to one travel lane in each direction between Carson and Ogden, starting at approximately 9 p.m. on Sunday, March 11, continuing through 5:30 a.m. on Monday. Traffic lane restrictions will resume during these same hours, Monday night through Tuesday morning. Las Vegas Boulevard should reopen to full access each morning by 5:30 a.m.
The temporary changes in traffic flow are necessary as crews continue work on the $5.5 million Fremont East Entertainment District project. Work started in January and includes construction of a new Fremont Street that will feature three blocks of streetscape from Las Vegas Boulevard to Eighth Street. Improvements include neon lighted gateways, neon elements placed in new median islands, decorative signage, expanded sidewalks, landscaping, lighting, banners and bronze medallions embedded in the sidewalks.
As part of the work, traffic lane restrictions remain in effect on Fremont Street between Las Vegas Boulevard and Eighth Street.
The project is being managed by the city of Las Vegas Department of Public Works. The contractor is Las Vegas Paving. Funding is provided by the city of Las Vegas, city of Las Vegas special improvement district assessments and the Nevada Department of Transportation Stewardship program.
The project, in its entirety, is slated for completion in August.
