The fall line marks the debut of affordable accessories for men and women
MINNEAPOLIS, MN (August 2008) — Target and Converse hit the streets this fall with the expansion of the Converse® One Star® collection featuring sportswear and accessories for men and women, and footwear for the whole family. Available exclusively at Target stores nationwide and at Target.com, the Converse One Star fall collection is a combination of East Coast prep and West Coast casual, offering contemporary denim, knit dresses, sweaters, graphic tees and outerwear for an irreverent look at a great price. The collection also marks the debut of a vintage, rock n’ roll-inspired accessories line for men and women.
"Collaborating with Target on the Converse One Star collections continues to be a very exciting venture. We are thrilled with the evolution of the brand and continuing this strong partnership," said Craig Reynolds, General Manager and Business Director, One Star Apparel & Accessories.
Marking 100 years of inspiring originality, Converse is one of the most iconic American pop culture brands influencing music, arts, sports, fashion and culture. Converse One Star, renowned for its retro, alternative looks, launched exclusively at Target stores nationwide in February 2008. The Converse One Star Fall 2008 lifestyle collection will be available at Target stores nationwide and at Target.com beginning in August.
"The One Star collection brings an energetic, contemporary aesthetic to our existing fashion program and appeals to a range of style personalities with one-of-a-kind, vintage designs at a great value," said Trish Adams, senior vice president, Target.
Women
For women, sportswear styles are updated with rich textures and unexpected combinations of shine and matte, as well as fleece and cord fabrics, making traditionally athletic silhouettes modern and feminine. Fall color palettes draw inspiration from iconic East Coast colors of port; navy and varsity red to gold, orange and black mixed with surprising hints of bronze and sapphire. Collegiate-themed, sophisticated logos are also cleverly mixed with iconic eyelet grommets to underscore the One Star signature style—all at an affordable price. Crests on blazers and tees mixed with a casual fleece skirt create a punk-meets-prep vibe. The One Star women’s footwear collection offers preppy and urban styles to suit any personality — from houndstooth skimmers and wedge oxfords in berry and taupe, to metallic Skidgrip® footwear styles and satin ballet skimmers in fuchsia and black. The line also offers the classic lace-up oxfords in fall’s key shades, and a laceless Glitter Ox for a youthful, rock n’ roll look.
Men
For men, rugby-striped shirting and military jackets evoke this season’s One Star style of prep school and punk rock. Distressed, long-sleeve polos, henleys, pinstripe vests, contrast collar twill blazers and weathered white button-downs with silver snap enclosures are the season’s must-have layering pieces. Inconspicuous details, including distressed rivets, appliqués, stencils and star buttons create one-of-a-kind hidden treasures, adding authenticity to each garment at a great value. Deep greens, navies and reds are accented with vintage golds and blues for a look that is uniquely One Star and effortlessly stylish. The fall One Star footwear collection for men includes retro skate and soccer shoes, as well as a suede hi-top-style shoe. Classic oxfords are available in deep blue, white and black, while suede versions are cool-weather appropriate and combine chocolate brown and black. Key styles include a leather and suede soccer shoe, and an updated oxford in brown suede.
Accessories
The Converse One Star fall collection also marks the debut of vintage-inspired, versatile accessories for men and women. Sold exclusively at Target, the newest addition to the One Star roster includes canvas totes, striped neck scarves and bowler bags for every day.
The collection also features more fashion-forward offerings, including fingerless gloves, metallic totes and crested fedoras. Stocking scarves in marigold, royal blue and heather gray can be worn either alone or combined with ready-to-wear pieces for an irreverent, contemporary look.
Children
The children’s One Star footwear collection includes slip-on styles and oxfords in updated prints that are fun and comfortable to wear. Boys can opt for a skull-print Skidgrip style or a suede soccer oxford, while girls can choose from glitter dance mary jane flats and printed lace-up oxfords in pink. One Star also introduces infant styles this season, including two-strap mid-tops and low-tops that are perfect for play. Infant girls can show a stylish side with glitter mary janes in silver.
