Priceline.com(R) (Nasdaq: PCLN) announced today a series of enhancements to its PriceBreakers service that will bring even more last-minute travel bargains to a growing base of deal-seeking customers. The enhancements include additional advertising opportunities for suppliers, where traffic will be directed to allow for transactions on the suppliers' own sites. In addition, there will be broader exposure for PriceBreakers deals on and off the priceline.com Web site.
PriceBreakers is popular among Internet bargain hunters. In August 2007, PriceBreakers deals were viewed more than 2 million times. PriceBreakers highlights 20 to 30 of the best last-minute travel deals hand-picked by the PriceBreakers staff and priceline.com's air, hotel, rental car, cruise and vacation package product teams. Especially deep discounts are highlighted as features. Each deal shows the estimated amount of time left before it is no longer available. All deals are subject to availability and change daily.
PriceBreakers deals typically come from priceline.com supplier/partners who pay no listing fees because their deals are fulfilled through priceline.com's transaction engine. Today, PriceBreakers announced that, for a placement fee, it also will allow qualified travel suppliers to offer deals that direct customers back to their own Web sites for fulfillment. In addition, all listings will be included in a weekly PriceBreakers e-mail. A limited number of these placements will be made available each week. Interested advertisers should contact priceline.com's advertising sales department at holly.lavender@priceline.com.
"We believe PriceBreakers is unique in the last-minute top deals category because of its broad mix of last-minute travel deals that can't be duplicated elsewhere," said Brian Ek, PriceBreakers' general manager. "Our offerings include deep-savings Name Your Own Price(R) deals and specially discounted vacation packages that are exclusive to priceline.com and PriceBreakers. We have special deals given to us by our supplier/partners. We offer members-only deals that are typically the cream of the crop. And, when we spot a generally available travel sale that's simply too good to miss, we alert our customers so they can be among the first to grab it before it goes away."
PriceBreakers deals are supported by a broad promotional network that includes:
-- PriceBreakers deal distribution to more than 6 million
registered e-mail addresses.
-- Web 2.0 distribution through RSS and XML feeds of
PriceBreakers deals that can be received by most popular
online readers, such as MyYahoo!, GoogleReader, Amphetadesk,
FeedDemon, NewsFire, Feedreader and Bloglines.
-- Advertised listings on travel Web sites including
Travelzoo.com.
-- Keyword search campaigns on popular search engines.
-- Fans of William Shatner's Priceline Negotiator character can
even add their own Google Gadget to see The Negotiator's
recommended PriceBreakers deals:

In addition, PriceBreakers is now being supported with a permanent "live" deals feed on the newly redesigned priceline.com home page.
