IN AN EMERGENCY - DIAL 911
All of Clark County, Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Boulder City, Blue Diamond, Mountain Springs and Laughlin

Cellular 911 Service: The Las Vegas metro area has an enhanced 911 service which means the 911 call from your cell phone will be routed to the closest emergency response provider to that cell. There are spots within the valley in which your cell signal may be routed to a distant (but still local) emergency response provider - but that is due to the signal strength of your phone and which "cell tower" picks it up. Don't worry, all providers in the valley are connected - and your call can quickly be rerouted to the correct location.

Nevada Highway Patrol - *NHP on your cellular phone. to report drunk drivers, traffic crashes, stranded or disabled motorists, or any suspicious incidents occurring on any of Nevada's roadways.

If you're in your hotel room - DIAL 0

Non Emergency situations - DIAL 311 from any of the above city's.

First Aid
We cannot think of a hotel, convention center or shopping center which does not have a first aid station. Find a security officer and explain what you need. Please remember - a first aid station is for minor injuries - if it's anything more than that - call 911 immediately.

Surviving the Heat
If your visiting us during the summer months - you're not only enjoying the best rates at our hotels and shows - but - unfortunately, you may be experiencing heat like you never have before. In our travel tips section - we have a list of things that you should consider packing, but once you're here - PLEASE remember the following:

  • Hey - this is Vegas Baby - BUT - limit your alcoholic intake to indoors during the day - and do not venture outdoors until you can pass a sobriety test. Outdoors limiting your beverage intake to plenty of water. If you MUST appear to be drinking, order an orange juice on the rocks with an Umbrella in it.
  • Did I say Drink plenty of water! With triple digit temperatures, and single digit humidity - your body needs water - NOT COFFEE, NOT ALCOHOL - H20 - WATER! Don't wait until you're thirst - by that time it could be almost too late!
  • Noel Coward wrote - only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon day sun! He wasn't writing about Las Vegas - but he hit it right on the head! The hottest part of the day is between noon and 6 (1200-1800) - with the highest temperatures between 5 & 6 PM (1700-1800). BUT - the sun is at roasting temperatures any time after noon. If you MUST go out doors during these hours - stay out of direct sun as much as possible.
  • Wear Plenty of sunscreen - double digit SPF, and bring the bottle with you to refresh those areas which you might have missed
  • Speaking of missing - there are three areas which EVERYBODY forgets to lather on the sunscreen
    • The very top of your head! YOU KNOW, the little bald spot, that we all cover up. Well before you cover it up - get some sunscreen on it. A burn there is EXTREMLY painful, AND will only lead to that little spot expanding in the future.
    • The tops of your feet and all around your ankles. Sure you've got that great pair of new sandals, BUT, if you don't like bra strap marks on your shoulders - think how funny it's going to look with strips on the top of your feet and around your ankles!
    • If you're one of those folks enjoying the freedom of dressing commando, if you are wearing loose fitting cloths (shorts, skirts, etc...) - make sure you get those sensitive parts with some kind of sunscreen. Our sidewalks are white here in Vegas, and midday sun reflects - and CAN burn areas that you NEVER want to get toasted, never mind burned - so keep that in mind.
  • Although we really don't have smog problem in the valley - our summer months, share "fire season" in Arizona and California - and unfortunately, the winds do carry the smoke from these fires into our valley. If you have respiratory problems - make sure you check our morning news channels to see if there are any smoke warnings.
